How we calculate your chart

Where the numbers come from

Every Human Design chart starts as astronomy. For the moment you were born, we calculate the positions of the Sun, the Moon, the planets and the lunar nodes using real ephemeris math, the same astronomical math professional astrology software runs on. Nothing in your chart is picked, guessed or randomized: every number is derived from where those bodies actually were.

Each planetary position maps onto one of the 64 gates of the Human Design wheel and, within each gate, onto one of its six lines. Those gates and lines are the raw data. Everything else is derived from them: which centers are defined, which channels connect them, and from those, your type, your strategy, your authority and your profile. If the positions are right, the rest follows. If they are wrong, nothing built on them can be trusted, which is why the calculation is the step we put the most care into. Personality and Design: the two calculations

Your chart is really two charts laid on top of each other. The first, called Personality, is calculated from your exact birth moment: date, time and place. The second, called Design, is calculated from an earlier moment: the point when the Sun was 88 degrees of arc earlier along its path, roughly three months before you were born. Same math, two snapshots. The black column of your chart comes from the first, the red column from the second.

This is why we ask for your exact birth time and never default to noon. The Moon moves fast enough that your type, authority and profile can shift within an hour, and the 88-degree calculation inherits any error in the first moment. A guessed time can produce a clean-looking chart that describes a different person.

If your recorded time is approximate, treat the chart as provisional and see what stays stable across the hour around it. If you do not know your time at all, we would rather say so plainly than sell you a reading about someone else: it is usually findable, on long-form birth certificates, in hospital records, or in a relative’s memory. And if you ever correct your birth data after buying, we regenerate your reading free of charge.

What we verify before anything ships

The chart is checked before a single sentence is written. A wrong chart invalidates everything built on it: every chapter, every experiment, every sentence that says “you”. So verification is a real step in the process, not a slogan.

Then, before your reading is delivered, every gate and line it cites is checked against the source chart data. If the text mentions gate 34, line 5, that activation has to exist in your calculated chart, or the reading does not ship. Activations you do not have never appear.

You do not have to take any of this on trust. Appendix A of your reading lists every activation, planet by planet, so any sentence traces back to a number you can verify yourself.

How the reading is composed

Your reading is composed line by line from your verified chart, not assembled from type templates. Your type is one input of many: your channels, profile, authority, centers and every single activation shape the text, down to subsection titles named after your own chart. Two people with the same type get very different readings, because underneath that shared type their charts are not alike.

What we don’t claim

Human Design is not science. No peer-reviewed study shows that gates and lines predict behavior, and we will not pretend otherwise. What we can verify is the math: the planetary positions, the 88-degree calculation, every activation in your chart. The interpretation resting on that math is a lens, not a fact.

We are certain about the math. Less certain about the rest: Human Design describes tendencies, and you decide what to do with your own life. Your reading offers descriptions to test against your experience and experiments to try, never predictions, and never medical, psychological or financial advice.
